China CITIC Bank Credit Card Center and Visa create "The Choice of Infinite 2017"
In October 2016, China CITIC Bank Credit Card Center and Visa jointly announced that they would partner with Microsoft Bing to launch two new restaurant guides targeting popular tourist destinations both domestically and abroad. According to the announcement, in addition to continuing to publish the "The Choice of Infinite 2017 China Restaurant Guide" with comprehensive coverage of the Chinese market, China CITIC Bank Credit Card Center and Visa will also extend their service to Korea, one of the top five travel destinations for Chinese people, and introduce the new bilingual "The Choice of Infinite 2017 Korea Restaurant Guide" in both Chinese and Korean.
Traditionally, professional restaurant guides are created by inviting multiple food critics to jointly select restaurants. However, some discerning food enthusiasts still believe these conclusions don't represent mainstream tastes. Therefore, this year, the "The Choice of Infinite" project has unprecedentedly partnered with Microsoft Bing, which has 15 million loyal high-end users in China, as its data support center. The most popular restaurants will be selected based on the ratings from Infinite cardholders and search popularity from Bing users. This represents a milestone reform in the history of global restaurant guides, changing the previously closed selection process to make restaurant selection more fair and closer to public taste.
"According to our annual search data, restaurant searches have consistently ranked first on the search rankings. China is one of the most internet-developed countries, making it very suitable to combine restaurant guides with the internet, which is why we chose to join The Choice of Infinite," said Yao Qi, head of Microsoft Bing.
Starting from November this year, CITIC Infinite Selection will launch nationwide. The restaurant guide will select quality restaurants in Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Sanya, Hong Kong, Macau, as well as Korean cities such as Seoul, Busan, and Jeju Island, according to Chinese lifestyle and dietary habits. The guide includes an overview of each restaurant and recommends using the Microsoft Bing app to scan the QR code on the guide to find restaurant information and reservation access.
